Heather D. Vest, M.S., LPC, NCC, is the founder of The Unscripted Therapy & Wellness Center and a U.S. Air Force veteran. She created the center to offer compassionate, practical, trauma-informed care where people can feel understood without having to have everything figured out. Heather is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor with experience supporting individuals and families affected by trauma, sexual assault, grief, family disruption, stress, burnout, and major life transitions. Her professional background includes work connected with rape crisis services, children’s advocacy programs, child and family systems, school districts, community-based organizations, and public-sector partnerships. She has also provided critical incident response and workplace crisis support through R3 Continuum, helping individuals and organizations navigate traumatic events, acute stress, loss, and emotionally difficult situations. Heather has served as an adjunct instructor with Des Moines Area Community College, bringing her clinical experience into the classroom through psychology, human behavior, and mental health education. She is also pursuing an MBA to strengthen her ability to build sustainable programs that serve clients, families, organizations, and communities. As a veteran and a provider participating in the VA Community Care Network, Heather understands the importance of culturally responsive care for veterans, military families, first responders, and others who have served in high-stress environments. Her approach is warm, direct, collaborative, and grounded in real life. She believes therapy should feel human and personal—not scripted or one-size-fits-all. Come as you are. We will meet you there.
